ANF Arrests A Woman Attempting to Smuggle Heroin from Islamabad Airport

A British-Pakistani (dual National) woman checked in for Doha bound Qatar Airlines today at Islamabad International Airport. She managed to get her boarding card and passport stamped from immigration counters. While she was in the departure lounge, the ANF personnel grew suspicious and checked her luggage. The ANF reportedly found huge amount of narcotics (heroin) was found from her luggage.

The suspect was taken into custody for further investigation.

The woman was on her way to Vienna (Austria) via a connecting flight through Doha (Qatar).

According to Anti Narcotic Force (ANF) sources, the action was taken on prior intelligence. The drugs have an estimated market value of Rs. 130 million.

Of late, the ANF has been very busy. A few days ago it seized 900 grams of hashish concealed in peanut shells. The ANF also arrested three drug dealers and seized narcotics in a raid Lahore earlier this month.

A Czech model was also caught carrying heroin from Lahore airport last year. The court has sentenced her to 8 years and 8 months in jail.

The ANF is working under the Ministry of Narcotics Control (MNC) with the motto “Drug-Free Society”.
