Huawei’s Smart Glasses Might be the First Ones Consumers Actually Buy

Huawei has been keeping its consumers engaged and excited one way or another. On the P30 and P30 Pro launch in Paris, Hankook Kim CEO and co-founder of Gentle Monster took to the stage and announced their collaboration with Huawei. The collaboration will have Huawei launch their own smartglasses with Gentle Monster at the helm.

Gentle Monster is a famous Korean eyewear company that is known to promote artistic and out of the box designs for eyewear. Their shops look more like art galleries with a vast array of designs and technologies used.

The first thing Hankook Kim said was, “Who would like to wear snapchat spectacles when out to meet a lover or a friend?”, Well! I must say, he is right. Huawei has skipped the camera feature in its smart glasses which not only addresses the privacy concerns but also assures its customers that the glasses will have a fashionable frame and will be worthy of wearing in public.

Features

Kim did not give away much about the specifications these smart glasses will feature but we know it will be packed with a 2200 mAh battery with wireless charging which is pretty amazing considering everything will be housed in the temples of the glasses.

The user will be able to access voice assistant with the directional mic and speakers installed. Sensors housed in the arms of the glasses let the user pick up and end calls by tapping it twice. The glasses will be rated IP67 being water resistant up to 1.5 meters and also dust resistant. Along with this, it will come with built-in Bluetooth and will have a USB-C type port for charging.

It is due to release somewhere in July 2019. The prices are not yet made public.
