WhatsApp’s Gets Improved Picture-in-Picture Mode and More on Android

WhatsApp has been consistently working on new features and improvements, and new updates are being rolled out regularly. The new beta update, on version 2.19.86, has been launched and comes with an improved picture-in-picture (PiP) mode as well as a change for voice messages.

The PiP mode for iOS was announced last year, however for Android, it was added in December last year.

There were some differences between the PiP mode on iOS and Android, as iOS users could also switch apps or chats without closing the window. The video automatically shuts off on Android if you do that.

Now, WABetainfo has spotted that the PiP mode for Android has also been updated with the same features as iOS. Take a look:

The video now continues playing whilst switching between chats or even when the app is minimized.

Voice Message Playback

Another feature rolled out in this update lets you play voice messages automatically. If the user plays one of the many voice messages, all messages will play one after the other. However, both the updates (PiP mode and consecutive voice messages) are still under process and are being made available slowly to make sure there are no bugs.

WhatsApp is also working on a new Dark mode for its platform, a first for the app. On switching to dark mode, the interface changes and the white background is turned to the black for less strain on eyes and longer battery life for AMOLED/OLED phones.
