Pakistan has invited Meta to expand its collaboration on digital skills, artificial intelligence (AI), and small business development as the government pushes ahead with its digital economy agenda.
The invitation came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and a Meta delegation led by Asia-Pacific Public Policy representative Tehara Punchihewa and Policy Programs Manager Vivian Liang.
During the meeting, Meta presented its Small Business Growth Academy, a program that will provide free training to 1,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Pakistan between August and November 2026. The initiative, to be implemented by local partner AtomCamp, will train businesses on Meta’s digital platforms, AI-powered business tools, and online marketing strategies.
The program aims to strengthen digital capabilities, improve market access, and support women entrepreneurs and businesses in smaller cities through both online and in-person training.
Jam Kamal said the government is placing digital transformation at the center of its reform agenda and is finalizing a new E-Commerce Policy alongside a broader Artificial Intelligence Policy to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-led economic growth.
The minister also encouraged Meta to work closely with the Directorate General of Trade Organizations, chambers of commerce, and trade associations to maximize the program’s impact. He noted that Pakistan has already established digital partnerships with companies including Alibaba and Google and welcomed deeper engagement with Meta to accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
