OnePlus recently launched its latest flagship duo, the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.
As expected from the company’s latest flagship, the OnePlus 7 Pro easily made it through Jerry Rig Everything’s latest torture test. Here’s how it went down.
Just like any other phone with Gorilla Glass protection these days, the OnePlus 7 Pro started to get scratches at a level 6 on Moh’s hardness scale with deeper scratches at a level 7. At the back, however, thanks to the Gorilla Glass 5, you won’t get any scratches with a razor blade or coins.
The front-facing pop-up camera showed the same results. The lens stayed absolutely spotless, meaning your images are going to stay unaffected even after popping the camera up and down countless times.
For reference, the hardness levels mentioned here are on Moh’s Hardness scale, where materials are rated based on how hard/durable they are. As a general rule, material at a certain level on Moh’s scale can only be scratched by the same or harder material.
For example, a level 6 material can’t be scratched or damaged by a level 5 material, but it can be scratched by a level 6 or 7 material.
Bend and Burn Tests
When Zack tried to bend the device out of shape in the durability test, it did show a slight flex on both the front and back, but nothing fatal as the phone stayed completely intact.
Moving on to the burn test, other AMOLED phones usually don’t survive exposure to a naked flame and start showing dead pixels in under 20 seconds. The OnePlus 7 Pro, on the other hand, stayed completely unhurt even after being exposed to the flame for almost an entire minute, showing absolutely no dead pixels or even burn marks. The screen was perfectly responsive throughout the test.
Not all flagships are made equal, some more likely to break than others. However, this isn’t that case with the OnePlus 7 Pro. It’s definitely, a sturdy and reliable phone coupled with a lower price tag than the recent flagships. Zack even goes to call it one of his favorites this year.
