PTCL’s Razakaar, an in-house volunteer force, achieved yet another milestone of hosting open-air Iftaars, whereby the company was able to reach out to approximately 10,000 beneficiaries across the nation. The company hosted special Iftaars for deserving communities across the country in the second Ashra of Ramazan.
Razakaars made the effort to personally reach out to the most deserving individuals, hence living up to the true spirit of the month. Special arrangements were made at mosques, hospitals and open spaces for labor communities.
The initiative encouraged PTCL employees and their families to become a part of the volunteer program providing a platform within the company to be able to give to the underserved society and serve communities they reside in.
In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, elaborate Iftaar spreads were laid out at the Shah Faisal Mosque, Islamabad, along with distribution of lunchboxes by mobile vans in the twin cities. The Razakaars also made Iftaar arrangements at notable mosques in Peshawar and Abbottabad.
Efforts were made in different cities, i.e. DI Khan, Lahore, Multan and Bahawalpur for serving Iftaars to patients and attendants at various local hospitals. Furthermore, PTCL also made concerted efforts and reached out to the farthest corners of the country such as Khairpur, Thar and the brick-worker community at Thera Meel Dasht, Balochistan.
Syed Mazhar Hussain, Chief Human Resource Officer, PTCL, appreciated the efforts of the volunteer force and said,
We are very proud of our PTCL Razakaar force that continues to support communities and spread joy by demonstrating true spirit in the holy month of Ramazan. Being a national company, we have a presence from the smallest town in rural areas to the largest metropolitan cities across the country. PTCL is humbled to contribute to society and will continue its humanitarian activities with the same zeal and fervor across Pakistan.
Being a socially responsible organization, PTCL promotes the fostering of societal development and encourages employee volunteerism. The Razakaar Program has emerged as an integral part of the company’s CSR initiatives that include many activities covering Health, Education, Youth Development, Inclusion, Environment, and Disaster Response. PTCL has a history and legacy to serve the nation since its inception.
Razakar is a good initiative, but the core thing to contribute to PTCL to enable them for the challenges of time, is to teach them how to use smart phone to be smart. This could be done on a massive level on the media, webcast, exchanges how to communicate better. How to stay healthy lectures, if disabled who to contact all in he phone and should be given at a token cost as part of CSR of the largest telecom., listed company which acquired the entire properties of T&T., and now contributes as a legacy for the cause.
