The continuously soaring dollar rate and the rising prices of commodities have finally prompted Prime Minister Imran Khan to swing into action.
On Thursday, PM Khan took serious notice of the unusual inflation in the country and issued a stern warning to those involved in artificially jacking up prices.
The premier issued special directives to chief secretaries of all provinces demanding swift and stern action on the situation.
The directives from the PM office asked provincial chief secretaries to ensure strict implementation of laws and close monitoring of the commodities’ price.
Khan also asked Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat to control the unusual inflation in the federal capital.
PM Khan ordered to launch a systematic campaign against the unusual price hike.
The statement from the PM office said that providing relief to the general public was the main responsibility of the officials.
In a separate development, Prime Minister Khan asked governor State Bank Reza Baqir to rein in the rising US dollar exchange rate.
