The usage of these ride-hailing apps is increasing rapidly, however, due to the fluctuating economy, it is becoming slightly expensive for Pakistanis to use such services.

  • Catagorically state Ride hailing services are in broader interest of Pakistan transport issue, where buses does not exist. The regulatory does not exist. Regulation does not exist. If there is bus, coach, you have to climb in the coach bus which is 3 ft., from the road, and literally climb the bus coach. The bus/coach doesn’t stop. The Ride Hailing Service is a positive step towards reform of bus, taxi service. It is capacity building of seats availability in public transport, so are App/., based taxi, coach, bus, or any transport they are the best things at low cost, without any farts.

  • I have been using ride hailing services since their first entry but now a day, they have increased their fares way much but the real problem is, after acquiring careem by uber, the competition is gone so they do what they want, they’re not giving any promotional codes as they were doing before. if they give, the fare percentage, area coverage, vehicle’s types and validity of the promo will be very low. Cost estimation is very different from the fare in case of careem service. You need to make a call to get correct fare, i was reverted back rs 200 and 309 for 2 consecutive rides with the excuse that their system has a problem so my fare was not correctly calculated. Lol

  • That is because it used to be cost-effective for people but now it has become somewhat similar to taxis, the only difference is that it provides air conditioned travel.

A while back, when taxi would cost no less than 500Rs from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, Careem used to cost half of that, and now both are at par with each other.

In a taxi, we don’t have to worry about the fare increasing from what was decided before booking it, but in these online ride hailing services your fare can increase as much as 2x during the ride.

      • Just last week I used Uber, estimate fare was 290 max… at the end it became 530 or so that too at midnight without any traffic, waiting…

        • Did you try contacting Uber for that? I am using it for more than a year now and I’ve never faced such a situation where my fare was increased.

  • Careem/Uber used to be cost-effective. Now they are on-par with normal taxis. Also, there are increasing instances of misbehavior of their drivers with customers.

Now its better to negotiate with normal taxis for same fare.
