KP Digitizes Rescue 1122 Emergency Service With Careem

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ride-hailing service Careem to digitize the emergency rescue service 1122.

Under the MoU, Careem will add the option of rescue services to its online application. It will allow the residents of Peshawar to book rescue services (ambulance and fire brigade) via Careem.

All existing rescue 1122 ambulance and fire brigades will be available through the Careem app via a separate Emergency Services Customer Car Type (CCT).

Careem officials will train the ambulance and fire brigade drivers on how to use the mobile application.

CM KP, Mahmood Khan, informed the media about the recent initiative, saying that the KP government wants to integrate the rescue services sector with information technology.

CM Khan said that technology will simplify and improve people’s lives and that the MoU will prove to be a stepping-stone for Pakistan’s growing digital future.

The signing of MoU is the first initiative of its kind in the country which will provide citizens with access to emergency services using a simple mobile application. We are working on the digitization of services which is not only time-efficient but will also provide cheap services to citizens at their doorsteps.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at Chief Minster’s Secretariat in Peshawar and attended by Minister Finance Taimur Jhagra, DG KP Emergency Services (1122), Co-Founder and CEO of Careem Pakistan among other officials.

Taimur Jhagra commented on the occasion:

“We are proud to announce a partnership with Careem Pakistan to help improve the response time of Rescue 1122 services in Peshawar and soon the rest of KP province. The initiative will help save precious lives through tech-enabled solutions. The government of KP has always been a strong proponent of working with the business community to ensure that Pakistanis receive the best possible services the state can provide.”

Mudassir Sheikha, counted amongst the Bloomberg 50 list of influential business leaders in 2018, said:

“Through this partnership with Careem, the Government of KP are leveraging technology to simplify and improve lives in Pakistan. We welcome this opportunity and are humbled to be part of this innovative project that will help accelerate Pakistan’s digital future.”

  • Compliments to the KPK government on initiatives of Digitisation and look forward to automate the process/procedures to the benefit of citizens.
