Renowned coffeehouse chain, Starbucks has been forced to issue an apology after a video uploaded by a Pakistani man, Sajid Kahloon – who hails from Gojra – has gone viral on social media.

According to the details, Starbucks tried to kick out a homeless man for eating food at Starbucks in Southend-on-Sea. Sajid had already paid the homeless man’s bill, however, the Starbucks staff tried to force the homeless man to leave because he was wearing tattered clothes.

The homeless man had walked into the coffeehouse asking for leftover food when Sajid bought him his lunch. He took the food and started eating it outside sitting area when the staff asked him to leave.

That’s when Sajid interrupted the staff, asking for a reason as to why he was being forced to leave despite the fact that his meal had been paid for.

Why can’t he have a seat, is he not human?

“The food has been bought, it has been paid for and if food is being paid for and he is eating, what is the problem?”, he argued with the staff. He filmed the whole episode and later uploaded it on social media where it was viewed by thousands of people, forcing the coffee chain to apologize for their staff’s behavior.

The interaction on video is not indicative of the environment we strive to create. We are looking into the circumstances surrounding this customer’s experience and will take appropriate action to ensure our stores remain welcoming places for everyone.

“We want every customer to have a positive experience, and we apologize that we did not meet that expectation in this instance”, the statement further read.

  • Starbucks you should be ashamed. He had food that had been paid for and had every right to sit and enjoy this wonderful man’s gesture. Where is your compassion for those less fortunate

    • They issued an apology, and they’ll be taking steps to improve. This was a one off incident due to a couple of employees’ mistake.

The bitter truth is that almost all of Pakistani upper-class restaurants/food-chains would do the same thing and won’t even issue an apology afterwards unless it resulted in financial loss for them. I’ve personally seen this stuff happen many times, people don’t even bat an eyelash here.

        • This isn’t “the behaviour of Starbucks.” I’ve been to Starbucks and this isn’t their usual policy. A couple of employees went off the handle, doesn’t mean it’s company policy.

Whereas this is the company policy in Pakistan at elite restaurants and not only do people go along with it, nobody tries to stop it.

  • Being completely selfless and unconditional to support someone who needs it, and advocating someone who has never expecting to have met you even is angelic behaviour. Highly impressed by this man, extremely happy that he is a Paki and too glad that things have been put right. Bravo!

  • Starbuck Shame on your attitude, with the angel you’ve thrown. Pakistan is blessed with many respectable Coffee Chain as DunKin Donut which is a highly respectable Int. chain gives all their Donuts a day old to charity for children. This is the blessing of Allah, which rewards to those who understand.

  • that’s not good behavior but every body know human nature,
By time,Allah Said in Quran that human are in Lost except those who believe and do righteous deeds and enjoin each other for right things and Enjoin each other for patience.
    Surah asar
