Islamabad Police to Introduce Body-Worn Cameras

Islamabad Capital Territory Police has decided to use body-worn cameras at checkpoints in the capital for enhanced security and better implementation of law and order.

Islamabad Police’s official Twitter handle shared the news earlier on Monday. According to the details, the capital Police has arranged 20 cameras to start with and the footages will be connected to the Safe City Project.

The initiative is a pilot project to test the performance of these cameras.

Islamabad Police have decided to arrange body-worn cameras for personnel deputed at police check-posts. Footage from these cameras will be connected to the Safe City system.

The cameras for the project have been sponsored by JS Bank.

If this turns out to be successful i.e. the camera resolution yields desired results, it is likely that the project will be scaled up. In response to a user’s tweet, Islamabad Police also told that they will also be installing cameras on patrol cars.
