5th Grade Student Invents Navigational Hat for Blind People

Zuhaib Ghauri, a fifth-grader from Karachi, has developed a navigational hat for blind people which helps them walk without bumping into hurdles. The child prodigy came up with this innovative idea after completing his Arduino courses.

For those unaware, Arduino is an open-source platform where programmers design and share single-board microcontroller kits for building digital devices. The Arduino board used in Zuhaib’s invention is one of those.

Powered by batteries, the hat uses sensors and an Arduino board to identify the hindrances in the way. The sensors, working as eyes for the blind, can detect the obstacle in three dimensions: left, right and front and calculate the distance of the barrier.

Watch Zuhaib explain his invention below:

As the person gets closer to a hurdle, the hat sends a signal to the board, which converts them into specific sounds. For a wall or an obstacle in front, it emits a sharp sound. Similarly, it sends different sound signals for hurdles on the left and right. This way, blind people can get an exact idea of where the hindrance is coming from and react accordingly.

Zuhaib’s invention is currently at the initial stages. If it is put to mass production and made available in the market, it can be a life-changing device for the blind.

  • invention achi hain par practical nahi hain. ye invention artificial intelligence k begair bekar hain. is main driverless car type ki technology use ki jaye toh is product ko market main sale bhi kia ja sakta hain
