You Can Go to Jail in KP if You Violate Safety Precautions for Coronavirus

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) government has decided to punish violators of the coronavirus safety protocols in the province.

According to details, anyone found breaching the coronavirus safety instructions will be fined and jailed for two years by the KP government.

The provincial government has ordered all deputy commissioners to ensure citizens are following the safety protocols. All violators will be charged under the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Act 2010 for obstruction in state affairs.

In a bid to contain the spread of COVID-19, the KP government, like other provinces, has shut down both public and private schools, proscribed public gatherings, and banned ceremonies in wedding halls throughout the province.

However, among all the provincial governments, KP remains the only province that has decided to punish the violators of coronavirus safety protocols.

Yesterday, the KP government announced to give 15-day paid leave to elderly government employees, suspended training at police training centers, and reduced the sentence of prisoners by 2 months following the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

It has requested citizens not to panic during the pandemic and urged them to take necessary precautionary measures to avoid contracting the virus.

These include washing hands frequently, abandoning unnecessary travel, and staying away from people showing symptoms of the virus.
