Crime in Punjab Reduced 39% Due to Lockdown

Though there are various downsides to the coronavirus lockdown, it also has some positive impact on the country.

The province-wide lockdown in Punjab has worked wonders both for the environment and society. It has not only revitalized our environment, visible from the clean air, clearer skies, but it has also reduced the crime rate in the province significantly.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Shoaib Dastgir, highlighted the improvement in crime rate on Monday. His spokesperson released a statement on his behalf identifying a 39 percent reduction in just three weeks.

According to IGP, the presence of police personnel on roads almost 24/7 and restrictions on free movement due to the pandemic has reduced crime incidents in the province.
