Google & IT Ministry Launch the Educational ‘CS First Program’ in Pakistan

Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MOITT) and Google have joined hands to launch a nationwide program to help kids learn coding along with other IT skills.

In this regard, Tech Valley and Telecom Foundation will be partnering with Google and MOITT in starting the ‘CS First Program’ in Pakistan.

CS First Program is a global initiative by Google in which kids between the age of 9 and 14 are taught skills that will shape the future.

CS First Program is powered by Scratch, a free programming tool developed by MIT for the kids to help them think creatively. Google’s CS First Program has enrolled thousands of kids across 75 countries.

Initially, Google and Tech Valley will train teachers in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi under the ‘Train the Trainer’ program. The Google certified trainers will start teaching the young minds across the country in the next phase of the CS First Program.

According to Federal Secretary MOITT, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, the initiative is in line with the vision of the incumbent government to enable Pakistan digitally.

CS First Program is just the stepping stone. MOITT envisages a country digitally equipped with IT skills that will lead the next generation of technology pioneers and developers.

CEO Tech Valley, Umar Farooq, said that the initiative is the realization of the dream of a digital Pakistan.

Tech Valley is looking forward to working with Google, MOITT, and Telecom Foundation. This is the right time to start CS First Program in Pakistan as every educational institute is looking towards digital solutions to carry out their classes and work.
