Pakistan’s First Lawmaker Passes Away Due to COVID-19

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab MPA from Gujranwala, Shaheen Raza, passed away earlier today after battling with Coronavirus.

Shaheen Raza tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday in Civil hospital. She was later transferred to Mayo hospital and placed on a ventilator after her condition deteriorated.

Shaheen Raza is the first Pakistani lawmaker to die from the Coronavirus infection.

According to CEO Mayo Hospital, Dr. Asad Aslam, the lawmaker was also suffering from blood pressure and diabetes that contributed to her death.

In 2018, Shaheen Raza was elected to the Punjab Assembly on a reserved seat. She was the only woman PTI lawmaker from Gujranwala in Punjab Assembly.

Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the lawmaker.

Previously, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Education Minister Sindh Saeed Ghani, and Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Dost Muhammad Mazari had tested positive for the Coronavirus. All of them have made complete recoveries from the infection after going into self quarantine.

  • This covid 19 is only targeting old people so no worries its time youth to take over Pakistan.

  • How Governor Sindh Imran Ismail recovered from Covid-19 , should be publicly and officially announced by the provincial as well as central Government of Pakistan.
