South Korean company LG has silently unveiled its latest entry-level smartphone, the LG K42, in the Dominican Republic yesterday. Compared to other smartphones in the same price bracket, the K42 comes with improved aesthetics and better specifications.
Design and Display
On top of sporting the typical 2020 rectangular camera bump on the back, the LG K42 comes with a grippy wave pattern on its back due to anti-scratch UV coating.
The smartphone measures 165 x 76.7 x 8.4mm and comes with MIL-STD-810G certification. Hence, it can withstand extreme environmental conditions. LG K42 is built around a 6.6-inch display with 720 x 1600 resolution and a tall aspect ratio.
Internals and Storage
As for the innards, the handset is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 Chipset with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot onboard for more storage.
It boots on LG UX based Android 10 OS and is equipped with a dedicated button for Google Assistant, 3D Sound Engine, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
LG K42 comes with a quad-sensor rear camera setup with a 13 MP main camera, a 5 MP super-wide lens, a 2 MP depth sensor, and a 2 MP macro shooter. For selfies, it comes with an 8 MP front-facing camera.
