Vivo Unveils X50e 5G Quad Cameras & Snapdragon 765G

Vivo has introduced a new 5G powered mid-ranger in the Taiwanese market dubbed the Vivo X50e 5G. The device is not to be confused with the Vivo X50 that was released earlier as it does not share any of its specifications with the former and looks completely different as well.

Design and Display

Unlike the base Vivo X50, the X50e comes with a 2019 mid-ranger design featuring a waterdrop notch and thicker bezels around the display. The display is a 6.44-inch AMOLED panel with 1080p resolution and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It covers 103% of the NTSC color space.

The back has a diamond-shaped camera cutout holding four lenses just above the LED flash.

Internals and Storage

The internals are driven by the Snapdragon 765G, the same SoC seen on many other affordable 5G handsets. It is paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage that is expandable through a microSD card. This chipset comes with a 2.4GHz Octa-core CPU and the Adreno 620 GPU.

On the software side, the X50e boots Android 10 fresh out of the box with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 10.5 on top.

Cameras

The unique-looking camera setup on the back has a 48MP main sensor, a 13MP telephoto sensor (likely with 3x optical zoom), an 8MP ultrawide shooter, and a 2MP macro camera for close-up photography. Video recording capabilities have not been revealed, but it will likely be capable of up to 4K recording at 30FPS similar to the base Vivo X50.

The waterdrop notch on the front features a 32MP selfie camera.

Battery and Pricing

The battery is a 4,350 mAh power cell equipped with 33W fast charging. It should be able to charge the device from flat to 100% in less than an hour.

The Vivo X50e will go for sale tomorrow for $480.
