The Best Infinix Phone Yet? Zero 8 Unboxing & First Impressions [Video]

Infinix is known for its affordable mid-range smartphones and the brand is quite popular in Pakistan. The company recently launched Zero 8, which rubs shoulders with the best mid-range smartphones, offering good value-for-money.

Whether or not you call it a budget smartphone somewhat depends on the market in which it’s being sold but at this price-point, the Infinix Zero 8 is quite a feature-set, with a high refresh rate display, a large battery, and super-fast 33W charging speed.

We at ProPakistani received a unit and here are our first impressions about the device:

Design and Display

Like the POCO X3, it’s got a flashy back – the diamond-like camera cutout leaves a striking impression on anyone checking it out. The whole thing has a premium feel to it – we actually like the symmetry thing they’ve done with the back. The silver color on all Zero 8s has this rainbow effect depending on the angle you look at it.

Starting on the outside, the device sports a plastic back. The phone has a 6.85-inch FHD+ IPS LCD with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and a 180Hz touch sampling rate.

At first, the experience was fairly snappy. The display looks seamless and smooth, probably because the settings are already set at a standard 90Hz refresh rate. There’s a capsule-like dual-camera cutout in the top left, and the bezels are quite small for a spec sheet this great and a price so low. There’s a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that doubles as a power button.

Infinix Zero 8 comes in Silver Diamond, Black Diamond, and Green Diamond colors.

Internals and Storage

The guts of the phone run on a MediaTek Helio G90T chipset supported by Mali G76 GPU. The phone Infinix sent us packs 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, expandable with a microSDXC slot.

Infinix Zero 8 comes with the latest XOS skin out of the box on top of Android 10.

Cameras

Perhaps the most prominent feature on the phone is the diamond-shaped quad-camera at the back. There’s a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors. There’s no telephoto lens, and honestly, you wouldn’t feel the need for it, even if you’re a photographer.

The main sensor is probably going to be the best performer of the bunch. You are going to get some camera versatility, all your different focal ranges covered. Other features include 4k 30fps video recording, dark mode and AI control.

The front camera inside the capsule cutout is a dual-sensor module with a 48MP+8MP pairing. This module supports 1080p video recording at 30fps.

Battery, Price, and Availability in Pakistan

An encouraging 4500mAh battery coupled with 33W fast charging provides another neat outlook to the phone with such a commanding spec list.

Perhaps the best indicator of battery power – according to a few feature-geeks in our team – is the charging animation you get to see when plugged to the 33W fast charger. You’ll know it when you see it!
