Tech publisher XDA Developers has been around for a long time, but it has mostly focused on the software side of phones. Now, however, it seems to have switched gears and has partnered with F(x)tec to build a phone of its own.
The XDA team has developed a phone called Pro1-X which boots Ubuntu Touch OS but also has support for  LineageOS, the successor to Cyanogen OS. The phone has an HDMI output supported over USB C so the phone can be connected to a monitor and turned into a Linux desktop.
The device has a 5.99-inch OLED screen with a 1080p resolution and it measures 14mm thick since it has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard is just as big as the screen and it switched the display into horizontal orientation once it’s opened. There is a single 12MP camera at the back and an 8MP shooter on the front.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC, which will soon be four generations old. There is up to 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage and a memory card slot for storage expansion. If you choose to go for Android, the phone will boot LineageOS 16 based on Android 9.0 Pie, but an Android 10 update will be available soon.
The 3,200 mAh battery has support for Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Power Delivery support, though there is only a microUSB port.
The F(x)tec Pro1-X will go for a retail price of $600.
