Former Cricketers Rally Against Virat Kohli For White Ball Captaincy

Cricketing experts from all over the world are calling for Virat Kohli to be replaced as India’s limited-overs captain. Virat has been under a lot of pressure as he has failed to win the Indian Premier League title with Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In the recently concluded IPL 2020, RCB failed once again to reach the finals under Kohli’s captaincy. meanwhile, Mumbai Indians won their 5th IPL title under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

Rohit took over the captaincy of Mumbai Indians from Australian legend, Ricky Ponting, in 2013. Since then, Mumbai Indians have been the most successful IPL team and all 5 of their titles have come under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

Former Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir, has called for the sacking of Virat Kohli as captain of the limited-overs side, adding that Rohit deserves to be the captain.

“Rohit has won five IPL titles; he is the most successful captain in the history of the tournament. Going forward, it’ll be a shame if he doesn’t get India’s white-ball (one-day) or just T20 captaincy,” Gambhir said.

Former England captain, Michael Vaughan, has also backed Rohit Sharma for captaincy, claiming that Rohit is a fantastic man-manager and a leader. Vaughan took to Twitter to voice his opinion.

Vaughan added that appointing Rohit Sharma as captain will be in the best interest of the Indian cricket team and they shouldn’t shy away from replacing Kohli as captain.

India are set to tour Australia for 4 Tests, 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs under Kohli’s captaincy. Kohli though will not be available for three Test matches due to paternity leave.
