The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) launched the third phase of the Sehat Card Plus scheme on Friday and it will be extended to the remaining six districts of the province.
Fourteen million residents of Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi, Nowshera, and Haripur will be able to avail of free medical treatment facilities at designated public and private sector hospitals once the third phase is completed.

The provincial Chief Minister, Mahmood Khan, formally launched the third phase of the Sehat Card Plus scheme at a ceremony and introduced it as “a complete package of social protection” program and a pro-poor initiative.
The minister explained that the extension of the program to the entire population of the province is an essential step that aligns with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of a welfare state and that the facility would be available to all of KP by the end of January.

He announced that from the new financial year onwards, the yearly coverage of Rs. 600,000 for merged districts will also be increased to Rs. 1 million to bring them on par with the settled districts.
