Punjab’s Minister for Higher Education and Information Technology, Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz, has declared that the province has become a leader for IT advancements in Pakistan.
He also discussed the future of the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) and the impact of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) on other provinces.

Addressing a joint press conference with the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, at Arfa Software Technology Park, Raja Yassir maintained that the government has a “strong belief in practical work rather than highlighting personalities”.
He emphasized the importance of integrating IT resources into the existing provincial reforms, adding that technological interventions in the affairs of the state have aided the eradication of corruption at the highest levels while providing a user-friendly ecosystem in all walks of life.
Minister Sarfraz commended the efforts of the PITB in transforming Punjab into an IT hub that also facilitates other provinces in a variety of technological fields.
Minister Sarfraz responded to a question regarding the PHEC saying,
We have no plans to close Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC). Rather we were struggling to enhance the standard of education in Punjab with a positive collaboration and support of PHEC and Higher Education Department Punjab.
He also spoke about Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for the coming years, and praised the provincial Chief Minister, Sardar Usman Buzdar, for facilitating the construction industry in the province.
The minister further added that the government has made life easier for the public by introducing the ePay application, a platform that allows the citizens of Punjab to pay token taxes, and e-challans, etc. online with convenience.
