Traffic Warden Fines Edhi Foundation Ambulance in Lahore

A traffic warden by the name of Ali Irfan fined an Edhi Foundation ambulance parked outside the General Hospital in the Kot Lakhpat sector of Gulberg Tehsil in Lahore on Monday.

As per a media report, a spokesperson for the Edhi Foundation said that the warden had imposed a fine of Rs. 1000 on the driver Jamil in addition to screaming and swearing at him. The spokesperson added that following the altercation, the warded had impounded the ambulance.

However, the spokesman of the traffic police department claimed that the driver had been fined for deliberately violating traffic rules. He stated that the driver had parked the ambulance in a ‘no parking area’ and had refused to comply with the law despite having been repeatedly asked to move the vehicle and that this had irked Traffic Warden Irfan.

The report adds that the incident has been brought to the attention of the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) and that the situation is being investigated in detail for the authorities to decide a suitable course of action.
