Govt Approves Increase in Salaries of Federal Employees

The federal cabinet has approved a summary seeking increments in the salaries of the employees of the federal government.

The decision was taken on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The meeting had various items on its agenda besides the decision on the salaries of the federal employees.

Earlier, the government had approved an increase of 25 percent in the salaries after protests by employees in Islamabad had turned violent. It later excluded the employees in 18 departments from its ad hoc relief package as they had already been granted additional perks and privileges.

The federal cabinet also greenlighted the reconstruction of the Board of the Institute of Management Karachi, and sanctioned the allotment of land for the Federal Service Tribunal in Karachi.

The attendees endorsed the Cabinet Committee’s decision on institutional reforms that had been taken in its meeting on 4 February. It also approved the deployment of Rangers for Tharparkar by-elections on 21 February.

Additionally, the cabinet deferred the appointment of the Managing Director for the National Transmission and Dispatch Company.
