Javed Afridi’s Latest Tweet Hints at MG 3’s Price in Pakistan

Pakistan’s hatchback segment has always suffered the dilemma of sky-high demands while the variety in the market has persistently remained at rock bottom. Although the introduction of the Automotive Development Policy (ADP) 2016-21 has brought a slight improvement in terms of choices, there is still room for more.

Morris Garages (MG) Pakistan seems to be cognizant of this and may capitalize on it by adding the all-new MG 3 to the hatchback segment.

Yesterday, Javed Afridi, who is the key stakeholder of MG Pakistan, shared a post on his Facebook account that asked for suggestions for the price of the MG 3 hatchback in Pakistan. After receiving a positive response on his Facebook post, Afridi took to Twitter last night to make a suggestion of his own for the same.

The MG 3 is a compact family hatchback that competes against the likes of the Toyota Vitz and the Suzuki Swift. It is offered with two engine options, one of which is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 105 hp and 137 Nm of torque. The other is also a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine but it makes 109 hp and 150 Nm of torque. The former comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and the latter comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The vehicle has plenty of modern technical and safety features and looks attractive both on the inside and the outside. If it were really to enter the Pakistani market with all its modern features at the suggested price point, the MG 3 would be an instant hit with and a breath of fresh air for the local hatchback lovers.

  • If this car is out to make its place in the market then it should not cost more than RS.1.5 million. Otherwise useless proposition.
