According to sources, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called an emergency press conference at 2pm today. The agenda of the press conference is still unknown.
The press conference can either be related to the COVID-19 incident in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) or the announcement of new city cricket associations initiative by the PCB.
Yesterday, PSL was halted as Islamabad United’s Australian leg-spinner, Fawad Ahmed, tested positive for COVID-19. PCB decided to hold the players back at the hotel as a precaution. While Fawad was sent to the isolation facility within the bio-secure bubble two days ago, the PCB decided to wait for for the results of the rest of the squads in the league.
Islamabad United were given the all clear by the authorities as all of it’s players and officials returned negative results, while Quetta’s results were awaited. PCB decided to reschedule the match to the next day. It is reported that both the teams have been declared fit to take the field.
PCB have also decided to conduct COVID-19 Tests on a more frequent basis, in order to ensure the safety of the individuals involved.
This is a developing story, stay tuned for more updates.
