Former Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Najam Sethi, has said that the PCB is solely responsible for the postponement of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6. He said that the PCB downplayed the threat of COVID-19 and did not take the required measures during the tournament.
Sethi said that the image of the league and the country has been damaged considerably, and PCB should be held accountable.

“The abrupt postponement of PSL 6 will have a hugely negative impact on the league’s future and reports coming out are saying that the PCB failed to ensure strict observation of the SOPs as several franchise owners and their relatives, the players and PCB officials were clearly seen violating the SOPs at the stadium and some of them were seen sitting in the dugout, which is preposterous,” Sethi said.
He added that PCB should have collaborated with the National Command and Operating Center (NCOC) to ensure that the proper SOPs are being implemented within the bio-secure bubble.
He said as the NCOC had recommended all the SOPs, including the number of fans allowed in the stadium, then they should have been the ones to monitor the situation within the bubble.

Sethi added that although there is going to be a severe financial loss due to the postponement, the main problem for PCB will be to regain the trust of the stakeholders, and it also puts PCB in an awkward position with the rest of the international cricket boards.
Sethi, the man who launched the PSL brand, was left disappointed at how the standard of the league had dropped in the sixth edition. He said that his team invested a lot of time and effort to make PSL a global brand that the whole country is proud of, and due to the negligence of the current PCB administration, the standard of the league has fallen drastically.
