Govt Bans Social Media for Officers

The government has issued new directives that prohibit the officials of key departments from using social media after expressing concerns over the untoward exchange of views between political parties during the Senate elections.

An official notification has been sent in principle to all the ministries, secretarial divisions, and the chief secretaries of all the provinces in this regard.

The announcement followed the incident of top-level national institutions sharing vital information online that could potentially impede the government’s ongoing operations.
