Misbah Publicly Lashes Out at Wasim for Selecting 112KG Sharjeel Khan

Pakistan head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq, has reportedly expressed reservations on the inclusion of firebrand opener, Sharjeel Khan, in the T20I squad for South Africa and Zimbabwe tours.

Sharjeel was named in T20I squads for the Africa tour. However, Misbah-ul-Haq, who emphasizes the importance of fitness in international cricket, is unhappy with Chief Selector, Muhammad Wasim’s decision.

Sources Reveal Why Babar’s Unhappy With Chief Selector

A few years back, Misbah, the captain had asked the then head coach Mickey Arthur to send Sharjeel Khan, who weighed 96 kgs at the time, back to Pakistan. Now, the opener, with a 112-kg tag, has been selected for the national team.

As per media reports, Misbah believes that the selection of Sharjeel Khan will pave the way for more ‘unfit’ players in the Pakistan team. He was also surprised to see the double standards in the selection process as Yasir Shah was excluded on the basis of fitness.

Sources also suggest that Sharjeel is unlikely to make it into the final XI despite being picked in the squad.

Earlier, media reports suggested that captain Babar Azam had also expressed displeasure over the selection process as some of his recommendations had been ignored by the Chief Selector.

However, a PCB representative had refuted media reports suggesting that the selection committee and the team management are on the same page.
