English Cricketers Come to Moeen Ali’s Defense After ISIS Comment

Controversial Bangladeshi writer, Taslima Nasreen, directed a disgusting Islamophobic tweet towards English all-rounder, Moeen Ali, where she stated that Ali could have joined ISIS if he was not a cricketer.

The tweet did not sit well with the English cricketers, they came to the defense of their teammate and requested the Twitter users to report Taslima’s account.

Taslima’s tweet read, “”If Moeen Ali were not stuck with cricket,  he would have gone to Syria to join ISIS.” The tweet was retweeted 832 times before being deleted.

Taslima’s tweet was posted after it was reported in the media that Moeen had asked his IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), to remove a logo of an alcohol brand from his jersey. However, CSK had denied the news reports and stated that no such requests have been made.

English players, Saqib Mahmood, Jofra Archer, Ben Duckett and Sam Billings came to the defense of Moeen and called for Taslima’s account to be reported.

Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer and Sam Billings along with other English cricketers will be seen in action in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), scheduled to start from 9 April.
