In a bid to control the rapid spread of coronavirus, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has decided to impose a partial lockdown in the federal capital next week.
The new restrictions will be effective for nine days, under which all markets, commercial activities, businesses, and shops will remain closed from May 8 till May 16.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Hamza Shafqaat, said this in a Twitter post on Monday. He also shared a copy of the notification in this regard, which states that only services such as medical and grocery stores will be allowed to operate.

DC Islamabad requested the public to cooperate, saying that the move will save precious lives in hospitals.

According to the order, all markets will be closed on Chand Raat, including mehndi, jewelry, clothing, and footwear stalls. Further, all tourist and picnic spots will also remain closed during the said period.
Meanwhile, all kinds of inter-provincial, intercity, and intracity public transport will be banned. However, private vehicles, taxis, and cars with 50 percent occupancy and medical and other emergency services transport will not be banned.
