Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister (SACM), Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, has offered her coaching services for the women cricketers in the country.

Dr. Firdous was invited as the chief guest to the inauguration of the Women Player Development Programme launched by the Pakistan Super League franchise, Lahore Qalandars.
She said that the program would prove beneficial for the aspiring young women cricketers and will help the country in unearthing new talented players for the future.
She said, “Lahore Qalandars have launched an excellent program for women cricketers. Pakistani women cricketers are behind in skill when compared to India, Australia, and England. This program will help bridge that gap. Prime Minister is also a big name in cricket and wants to see Pakistan on top in every sport.”

“I used to play sports during my school days, but at that time, there was no proper coaching available. I understand cricket really well, so my coaching services are also available for women cricketers,” she added.
Lahore Qalandars are continuing their excellent work at the grassroots level. After becoming the first PSL franchise to launch a player talent hunt program for men, Lahore Qalandars became the first to launch a development program for women cricketers as well.
Their head coach, Aaqib Javed, praised the initiative of the franchise, saying, “Women cricketers will be selected through trials in all big cities. There is no dearth of talent in women cricketers. This program will provide proper guidance to them”.
