Govt Set to Launch the First Phase of Uniform National Curriculum

Uniform national curriculum for classes 1 to 5 will be introduced across the country from August 2021, Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Wajiha Akram, has confirmed.

While replying to different supplementary questions during question hour in the National Assembly, the Parliamentary Education Secretary said the federal government has prepared the national curriculum for these classes after taking all federating units on board.

She added that model textbooks have been prepared for these classes and the provinces have been given the choice to either adopt these books or develop their own as per the model textbooks.

In the second phase, the uniform national curriculum for classes 6 to 8 will be introduced in the country from the academic year 2022-2023. Uniform national curriculum for classes 9 to 12 will be introduced in the third phase from the academic year 2023-2024.

She said that the uniform curriculum will not only provide equal learning opportunities to students across the country but it will ensure national harmony and cohesion to build one nation.

Besides, the Parliamentary Education Secretary briefed the National Assembly that the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has launched two projects with an aim to incorporate technology in public sector education.

These projects are “Pilot Project for Blended E-Learning in 200 Classrooms of Federal Capital” and “Pilot Project for STEM Teaching Grade.”
