Govt to Make Report of Rawalpindi Ring Road Scam Public

The government will make the inquiry report of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) scam public either this week or after Eid ul Azha.

According to the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior and Accountability, Shahzad Akbar, there are two to three ongoing inquiries into the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) scam, and all of them will be completed soon.

“[The] Government will make public inquiry report into the scam this week or maybe after Eidul Azhar,” he revealed.

Large-scale irregularities had been detected in the Ring Road project by a fact-finding inquiry committee.

According to the committee, the Government of Punjab had found that the former Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood had made illegal alterations in the original plan of the Rawalpindi Ring Road to benefit some influential persons. Its report also detailed that the former Land Acquisition Commissioner (LAC) Waseem Tabish and former government officer Abdullah were involved in the scam.
