FDE Relaxes Admissions Policy for New Academic Session

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has relaxed its admission policy for classes prep to six for the new academic session.

A notification was issued in this regard on Tuesday, which mentioned a partial modification in the directorate’s letter dated 08-07-2021, and announced general age relaxation for admission in class Pre-one and One for students getting enrolled.

According to the FDE, which regulates Islamabad’s government schools and colleges, the age for admission to class One is between five and six years, and for a pre-school program of nursery/preparatory classes, is four to five years respectively under the Education Code 2006.

However, for the academic session 2021-22, the department has allowed age relaxation of 03 months in the lower age limit and 06 months in the upper age limit.

Earlier in March, the FDE had announced a relaxed age condition for centralized annual exams for 5th and 8th grades.

“The Competent Authority has approved the age relaxation in eligibility for Class-V & Class-VIII examinations. For the Centralised Annual Examination, Class-V minimum age limit is nine years and eight months and for the Centralised Annual Examination Class-VIII, the minimum age limit is 12 years and eight months,” the circular in this regard had stated.
