Pakistan’s all-format captain, Babar Azam, has climbed up two places in the ICC Test batting rankings after a reasonable performance in the first Test match against West Indies. Babar has moved from tenth to eighth after scoring a half-century in the second innings of the match.

Babar and Indian captain, Virat Kohli, are the only two players in the world to be ranked amongst the top ten batsmen across all formats. Babar is ranked 1st in ODIs, 2nd in T20Is, and 8th in Tests, while Kohli is ranked 2nd in ODIs, 5th in T20Is, and 5th in Tests.
After a fine showing, Pakistan’s middle-order batsman, Fawad Alam, and the all-rounder, Faheem Ashraf, moved up the rankings. Both the batsmen moved up four places each and as a result, Fawad is now ranked at 55th place while Faheem has moved to 48th spot.
Pakistan’s left-arm pacer, Shaheen Afridi, climbed up the Test bowler rankings by four ranks. He is now ranked 18th after picking up 8 wickets in the first Test match. Fast bowlers, Hasan Ali and Mohammad Abbas, are ranked 15th and 17th, respectively.

England’s Test captain, Joe Root, also climbed up three places and is now ranked number two in the world after his scintillating performance in the ongoing Test series against India. Root has scored two centuries and one half-century in the four innings he has played in the series.
England’s veteran fast bowler, James Anderson, also moved up two places to 6th in the Test bowler rankings after another five-wicket haul in the second Test against India.
