The Inaugural edition of Kashmir Premier League broke the records for the most-watched first season sports event in Pakistan history. The 12-day tournament garnered over 40 million views as the cricket fans enjoyed the high-quality cricket on display in the tournament.
“Kashmir Premier League was about promoting Kashmir through the joy of cricket, and we wholeheartedly believe that we have achieved that goal. A HUGE thank you to everyone and see you all in the next season of KPL,” the official KPL account tweeted.

The highly successful tournament included top Pakistani and international cricket stars including, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Herschelle Gibbs, and title-winning captain Shahid Afridi.
The tournament included six teams from the Kashmir region including eventual champions Rawalakot Hawks, finalists Muzaffarabad Tigers, Overseas Warriors, Mirpur Royals, Bagh Stallions, and Kotli Lions. The 19 match tournament was held at the beautiful Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium in the capital of the region.

Shahid Afridi led Rawalakot Hawks were crowned as the champions for the first edition of the tournament as they defeated the hosts, Muzaffarabad Tigers by 7 runs in the final of the tournament.
Former Pakistan captain expressed his delight at winning the tournament and referred to the title win as one of the most memorable wins in his career. He also thanked the management for organizing such a wonderful event and also thanked the Pakistan Army for their support throughout the tournament. He said that the tournament has potential and will be even bigger and better next year.
