Shell Pakistan Collaborates with HANDS to Launch Vaccination Drive in Different Cities

Shell Pakistan, in collaboration with HANDS, has inaugurated the COVID-19 Vaccination Drive at Shell House Karachi to provide easy access to coronavirus vaccinations for the citizens of Karachi, Lahore, and Multan. The initiative comes as part of Shell’s resolve to support the government’s fight against the pandemic that continues to affect Pakistan’s socioeconomic wellbeing.

The novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, is a new virus, which means that there is no immunity against it. Being highly contagious and mutating rapidly, it spreads fast. Since there is very little history to be sure of how the virus behaves and how its new variations will emerge with time, vaccination seems to be the only possible solution.

Shell Pakistan’s collaboration with HANDS aims to curb the spread of the virus and its mutations. Shell’s vaccination drive will run through 15 mobile vaccination units (MVUs) in Karachi, Lahore, and Multan to help the surrounding communities, with easy and safe access to Covid-19 vaccines.

“Although Covid vaccine is available to the masses across the country, many don’t have easy access to it because of the crowds, long lines, and extended wait times at vaccination centers,” shares Haroon Rashid, CEO Shell Pakistan. “Through our partnership with HANDS, we are making access to these vaccines easier for Pakistanis while raising awareness about getting vaccinated at the same time.”

“We’re pleased that Shell took this important step and chose us as a partner in this much-needed vaccination drive,” shares Ghulam Mustafa Zaor, Chief Service Executive at HANDS. “Together, we want to make getting vaccinated easier for Pakistanis while encouraging more people to get immunized against this deadly disease that continues to claim lives and upend our economy.”

It’s also important to note here that a COVID-19 Vaccination Center was set up at Shell Chaklala Oil Installation, Rawalpindi, from 23rd to 29th Aug. HANDS ran an awareness drive in surrounding communities, and during the week’s time, as many as 900 residents got vaccinated.

HANDS is one of the leading non-profit organizations in Pakistan which is working towards improving health, promoting education, alleviating poverty, building infrastructure, and developing social institutions for community empowerment. It consists of 14 volunteer board members, 10,000 workforce, and thousands of community-based volunteers of more than 6,300 partner organizations.

Shell, in collaboration with HANDS, is working actively in the promotion of health and safety measures against COVID-19. This is a very crucial step in order to promote vaccination by making it accessible for the common people. It is bound to encourage everyone to get vaccinated and play their part in making the community safer.
