MediaTek Dimensity 2000 Could be The First 4nm Chip Based on ARM v9 Architecture

We have been hearing about MediaTek working on a 4nm chip for a while now and some reports also claim that it would be the first smartphone SoC based on the 4nm node. Now a new leak from notable tipster Digital Chat Station says that this chip will reportedly be called the Dimensity 2000 and it is getting closer to launch.

He says that the upcoming Dimensity 2000 chip will be based on TSMC’s 4nm node and the chipmaker has already handed out samples to hardware partners for internal testing. If all goes according to plan, we might start seeing the chipset in new smartphones in early 2022.

This time frame could make it difficult for the Dimensity 2000 to become the world’s first 4nm chip. This is because Qualcomm, one of its biggest rivals, is also reportedly working on a 4nm chip. It is expected to be announced in December this year and hit the market as early as January 2022.

As for the Dimensity 2000, it will be based on the new ARM V9 architecture as well as the new Cortex-X2 CPU cores for some significant performance gains. It is safe to assume that its performance may finally match Qualcomm’s top-tier chipsets.
