CDA Officers to Face Criminal Proceedings Over E-11 Flooding

The federal Cabinet has decided to initiate criminal proceedings and take disciplinary action against the officers of the Capital Development Authority who approved the construction on a nullah in Sector E-11, Islamabad.

Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over a meeting of the federal Cabinet in which this decision was made.

The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) proposal for the cancellation of the exemption of Sector E-11 from the acquisition granted by the Advisor to the President on 5 June 1968 and approved by the Cabinet on 27 June 1968, has been rejected by the Cabinet.

The Cabinet has approved the implementation of the CDA’s bylaws in E-11 and Golra. Accordingly, the illegal construction will be demolished, and the affectees will be compensated by the sponsors and society.

It came to light during an internal inquiry that the CDA officers had permitted the narrowing of the nullah in E-11. The case against them will proceed under the law.

The attendees of the meeting stressed that the disciplinary action against the delinquent officers should be accompanied by criminal proceedings.
