KP Begins Audit to Weed Out Fake COVID-19 Vaccination Certificates

KP’s Health Ministry has initiated an audit to verify COVID-19 vaccination certificates of citizens who received them without actually getting vaccinated.

The development comes after it was reported that NADRA issued a large number of Coronavirus vaccination certificates on the basis of confirmation of the Mass Vaccination Centers (MVCs) while the people did not get vaccinated.

Speaking in this regard, KP’s Health Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah said that audit of all MVCs in the province will be carried out to uncover the officials who entered fabricated data for the fake Coronavirus vaccination certificates.

He added that the Health Ministry will send the findings of the audit to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to launch criminal proceedings against officials involved in the act.

The Federal government set up MVCs in every city in the country to vaccinate 70 million people against the Coronavirus by the end of this year. However, a large number of citizens are reluctant to get vaccinated due to different rumors.

It has also linked a number of services with mandatory vaccination to achieve the target of 70 million before 2022. This is why citizens are using illicit means to get the COVID-19 vaccination certificates without getting the shots physically.

Last month, Punjab Police arrested four employees of the provincial Health Ministry from Lahore involved in issuing fake vaccination certificates in exchange for money.

They charged between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 10,000 for one fake vaccination certificate on the basis of the demand of the Coronavirus vaccines approved for use in the country.
