OnePlus 12 Will Fix Several OnePlus 11’s Weaknesses

The imminent arrival of the OnePlus 12 is causing quite a stir, with various rumors suggesting it may be officially unveiled in either December or January. There’s still some uncertainty regarding whether there will be a unified global launch or an initial release in China, similar to the previous year.

For those who scrutinized the OnePlus 11 and found it lacking essential features that are a must for a smartphone, there’s some promising news. A recent rumor, originating from the usually dependable source ‘Digital Chat Station’ on Weibo, indicates that the OnePlus 12 is poised to address almost all the deficiencies of its predecessor.

Speaking of the upgrades, the OnePlus 12 is said to offer wireless charging at an impressive 50W, a stark departure from its predecessor. Additionally, the inclusion of USB 3.2 support in its USB-C port and the presence of an IR blaster further enhance its connectivity capabilities. Addressing a previous rumor, the OnePlus 12 is expected to introduce a “high-quality periscope” zoom lens, featuring a 3x optical zoom and a 64MP sensor.

These are all significant upgrades absent in the OnePlus 11, and their inclusion in the OnePlus 12 is poised to position it as one of the most premium devices ever to bear the OnePlus name. However, it’s worth noting that with these added features, a potential price increase shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Rumored Specifications

According to earlier reports, the OnePlus 12 will be powered by Qualcomm’s forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and will be available with either 16 GB or 24 GB of RAM, along with at least 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

A substantial 5,400 mAh battery with 100W wired charging support is also expected. The device will feature a 6.82-inch 120 Hz 2K screen with a remarkable peak brightness of 2,600 nits, and it will run on Android 14 with OxygenOS 14 on top.
