KPK Officially Announces Retake Date of MDCAT

The Khyber Medical University in Peshawar has officially announced the date for re-conducting the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in the province.

According to the announcement, MDCAT will be retaken in KPK on November 26. The Khyber Medical University (KMU) would be responsible for reorganizing the test.

In its statement, the university said that it has asked for assistance from the Federal Investigation Agency and police to ensure transparency. According to KMU, 46,658 students have registered for the test scheduled to be held next month.

Earlier, the provincial government had proposed November 19 for retaking the exam but it has now been pushed further by a week. Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had also received a letter from the KP government in this regard.

In its letter, the KP government had stated that KMU will not receive fees from already registered candidates. It should be recalled that the Peshawar High Court (PHC) had directed to re-conduct the test within six weeks.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s MDCAT was hit by a major controversy after dozens of students were caught cheating using a Bluetooth device. The test was cancelled and a retake was ordered.

Last week, the KMU took strict action against students who were caught cheating during the exam. According to details, as many as 219 students have been banned from taking the MDCAT for two years.
