The Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) benchmark index KSE-100 soared to an all-time high on Friday, surging past the previous record of 54,261.
After opening trade at 54,261 points, the benchmark KSE-100 index went up by 1.55 percent or 841 points at 10 AM to a new high of 55,102. At 11:55 AM, it jumped to 55,364, up by 2.03 percent or 1,103 points.
At 12:20 PM, the KSE-100 index clocked in at 55,355, up 2.02 percent or 1,094 points. It settled with a gain of 1,129 points closing at 55,391. The KMI 30 index gathered 2,155 points settling at 94,456, while the KSE All share index surged by 648 points to close at 36,794.
The average daily traded volume increased by 32.4 percent DoD to 639 million shares (highest since 1st July 2021) while the average daily traded value increased by 4.9 percent DoD to 21.1 billion shares (highest since 30th November 2021), said Arif Habib Limited in a brief note.
“PIB auction result led rally. KSE 100 Index crosses 55000 mark. KSE 30 Indes at 18500 still down 34% from peak. PE still down 65% from peak,” CEO Topline Securities Mohammed Sohail said in a tweet on X.
The highest participation was witnessed in Cnergyico PK Limited (PSX: CNERGY) with 103 million shares traded, followed by Hum Network Limited (PSX: HUMNL) and Pakistan Refinery Limited (PSX: PRL). The scrips had 42.4 million shares and 31 million shares traded, respectively.
Overall market volumes clocked in at 641 million shares. Total traded value inched up on Friday to Rs. 21 billion.

Meanwhile, equity markets around the world showed a bullish trend. At 17:15 PKT, crude oil prices moved north with WTI crude oil price rising by 1.1 percent to $76.57, while Brent crude oil was up by 1.11 percent to $80.9.
