Former Captain Appointed as Head Coach and Technical Director of Pakistan

Former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been appointed as Head Coach and Team Director of the Pakistan cricket team by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Hafeez will be the head coach of the national team on their tour of Australia as PCB has decided to give ‘other’ roles to recent coach Grant Bradburn and technical director Mickey Arthur.

The development follows an eventful evening at the PCB headquarters which saw Babar Azam’s resignation after meeting with Chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf.

Babar’s performance as captain was the theme of the meeting. He announced his resignation as all-format captain shortly after the meeting.

Babar took to social media to announce his resignation. Following the development, PCB made several changes to the team hierarchy in red-ball and shortest formats.

According to details, Shan Masood has been appointed as Test captain while Shaheen Afridi has been named as T20I captain.

Meanwhile, Hafeez, who was part of PCB’s technical committee, resigned after a few months into his role due to a difference of opinion.
