The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to form a new men’s national selection committee, reportedly, which will include, head coaches Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie are set to become an integral part of the committee.
In a brief press release, the PCB confirmed on Wednesday, that Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz were removed from their roles in the national selection committee.
Abdul Razzaq served on both the men’s and women’s selection committees, while Wahab Riaz was part of the men’s selection committee.
The revamped selection committee will feature Pakistan’s red-ball coach Jason Gillespie and white-ball coach Gary Kirsten. They will be joined by former Pakistani cricketers Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq, along with the captains of the respective formats.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board today confirmed that it has notified Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services will no longer be required in the national selection committee set up. Abdul Razzaq was a member of the men’s and women’s selection committee, while Wahab was a member of the men’s selection committee,” the PCB later confirmed in a brief press release.
“The PCB will provide further updates on the selection committee’s composition in due course,” it added.
This overhaul is part of the PCB’s broader strategy to enhance team performance in the selection process. The inclusion of high-profile names like Gillespie and Kirsten signals a strong commitment to revamping the team’s approach and ensuring better selection for future tournaments.
