The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to increase employee salaries further to help them cope with inflation. It is pertinent to mention that in the 2024-25 budget, the provincial government had announced a 10% increase in salaries.

It has now been decided to raise the salaries of government employees in Grades 1 to 16 by 25%, matching the increase approved by the federal government. Employees in Grades 17 and above will receive a 20% salary increase, while pensions will be raised by an additional 10%.

In a video message, KP Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam said that the federal government had announced a 25% salary increase for employees in Grades 1 to 16, a 20% increase for those in Grade 17 and above, and a 15% rise in pensions.

He added that the provincial cabinet has approved salary and pension increases in line with the federal government’s plan. He stated a notification will be issued soon in this regard.

These adjustments will place an extra burden of Rs75 to 80 billion on the provincial treasury.

  • PTI will criticise Federal government with what face?. A massive salary increase of 20% salary for Senior officials and 25% increase for Junior officers?. Who will pay this massive pay rise?. The salaries of Private employees is decreasing because of massive taxes, while government employees are living a luxury life on the expense of public of Pakistan.
If this increase will continue then Government employees salaries will double in next 5 years. A grade 16 government employee will earn more money than a senior manager in some corporate sector in some years. Such injustice will not go on for long.

  • In companies, people usually get an increment of 10%. If performance is outstanding, then employee gets an increment of 15 to 20%. No pension plans in private companies.

On the other hand, government employees are rolling in money. They are completely financially secure. What an injustice!
