Pakistan’s premium pacer Mohammad Amir helped his team clinch victory with a pivotal bowling spell as the defending champions, Oval Invincibles defeated Birmingham Phoenix in their opening match of the season.
Phoenix, who opted to bat first after winning the toss, struggled against the Invincibles’ disciplined bowling. They were bowled out for 89 runs in 81 balls, with 19 deliveries to spare.
Rishi Patel (25), Benny Howell (24), and Jacob Bethell (22) were the only batters who managed to put up a fight, with the rest failing to contribute in the innings.
Mohammad Amir was the standout bowler, taking two key wickets of Dan Mousley (1) and captain Moeen Ali (1) in his 2.3 over spell, conceding only 7 runs.

His exceptional bowling was complemented by Adam Zampa, who picked up three wickets, further dismantling the Phoenix batting lineup.
During the run-chase, the Invincibles reached the target effortlessly, losing just two wickets in 11.3 overs. Captain Sam Billings led with a vital knock of 31 runs, supported by Dawid Malan, who remained unbeaten with 24 runs, and Tawanda Muyeye, who added 23 runs to the tally in the second innings.
Adam Zampa was named Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance, which played a crucial role in securing the Invincibles’ victory.
Mohammad Amir was also part of the T20 World Cup squad where he picked up 7 wickets in 4 matches.
