Several key players will contend for spots in the Pakistan squad that will feature in the Test series against Bangladesh with the final decision on the Test lineup to be made next week, pending the return of red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie.
Currently, the Pakistan head coach is in Darwin with the Pakistan Shaheens and will return after their second four-day match against Bangladesh A.
Preparations for the Test series will feature a training camp in the second week of August, with the first Test scheduled to begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
The home series will mark Pakistan’s return to Test cricket since their last match against Australia in January, with numerous changes expected in the team composition.
Sources indicate that several players may lose their spots due to form and fitness issues, making way for new talents like Mohammad Huraira and Sahibzada Farhan.
Media reports suggest that players such as Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Saim Ayub, and Nauman Ali are at risk of being excluded from the squad.
Discussions are also ongoing regarding the inclusion of Imam-ul-Haq, while decisions on Aamir Jamal and Hasan Ali will depend on their fitness.
Pakistan is currently ranked 6th in the ICC Test Rankings while Bangladesh sits at 9th place in the rankings currently.
